Introducing Sonnenhof Acre’s Goat Herd
Next to chickens and our livestock guardian dog, our goats were the foundation livestock of Sonnehof Acres. Our goat herd, Pusteblume Blessing, started with only a handful of goats. Over the years, as we learned through our mistakes and understanding our breeding objectives, we have continually culled and improved our foundation lines. We started out with Nigerian Dwarf and Lamancha goats, but we now also have some Oberhasli and British Guernsey and their crosses in our herd. While we love the Nigerians for the docile and sweet nature, we absolute love our British Guernsey for their delicious milk and hardiness. Our primary breeding objectives are:
Parasite Resistance
Docile & Stay Well in Fences
Easy Keepers - Maintain Good Body Conditions through changes in season, pasture and age
Easy births and ability to raise and feed multiples without assistance
Thrive on pasture and woodlands
Easy to handle, lead, treat and move to new pastures
